If you are interested in purchasing a new bat please contact Coach Sliwinski for an order form or see Coach Ryzner.

The bats that we will have a discount on will be the Demarini CF5 Composite & Voodoo. We can also receive a discount on the Easton S1 and S2 Balance Composite along with the Easton XL1 and XL2 Long Barrel Composite.

Please keep in mind that local sporting goods stores and online companies still have the old bat models in stock and are selling them at huge discounts. These bats will not be permitted for use in a game.

News and Updates

For those who are participating in fall baseball please refer to the OHSAA's rules and regulations.

In the near future information will be posted on the new bat regulations for the 2012 season.  We are also in negotiations with our sporting goods representative for discounts on bats that fit these regulations.  If any individuals are interested in purchasing their own bats, please wait until we receive a price list.  Our hope is we can save families a considerable amount of savings by going through our supplier.  We should have the price list soon; we will be able to place an order for the bats shortly after Labor Day.  We will get the information to players once school begins.

Golf Outing a Success... And a Splash

Thank you to all the golfers, sponsors, and volunteers that participated in this year's golf outing.  The event started with temps in the mid 90's and ended with severe lightning and rainstorms for 112 golfers.  The last four holes had to be cancelled due to weather, mirroring our spring season.  Everyone had fun; both the baseball and golf programs will benefit from the day.  We are all looking forward to the golf outing next year, which has been set for Friday July 27th, 2012.

Knuckleball Pitcher Randy Cooper ‘05

What do Hall of Fame Baseball Player Phil Niekro and Randy Cooper ‘05 have in common?  If you said “the knuckleball,” you are correct.  Niekro may have won 300+ games and played well into his 40's but Randy is having fun and still pitching in an adult Washington D.C. summer league.

The knuckleball is one of those pitches that has confused hitters forever.  Its thrown slow, slower and even slower yet.  Depending on the weather, no one knows where it will land or which direction it will move.

In his most recent start Randy threw 5 innings.  He gave up 2 hits, 1 walk, 1 unearned run, and struck-out 4.  He was the pitcher of record and earned the win.

When he's not throwing the "floater" and baffling hitters in the D.C. area Randy is currently working for the National District Attorney's Association in Alexandria, VA.
