DSCN3192Senior catcher Jake Marinelli was named as one of the  50 Best Players in Ohio by ESPN RISE magazine.  The names of the 50 best players in the state were listed in the Ohio edition of the magazine. 19 players from northeast Ohio made the list of 50.  Marinelli is a 3rd year Varsity starter.  He was a 1st team selection for the NEOBCA 2010 Lakeland Area Team along with being named 1st Team All Cuyahoga River Baseball Conference.  He also received the Mike Easler Achievement Award as the Bengals MVP. Marinelli  recently gave his verbal commitment to Mercyhurst College.

BENGALS 4-2 ... Hoping for Better Weather for 2nd Half.

The Varsity Baseball Team not only is up against a tough schedule but the weather as well.  Games have been re-scheduled and some of those have been re-scheduled again!  In total, 13 games have been canceled due to rain or wet field conditions and one game because of snow. Heading into the final week of April the Bengals have 8 games scheduled in the next 6 days.  Hoping the weather will improve and we hope to can get games played before the state tournament begins in mid-May.  Be sure to check the calendar at the bottom of the page for updates on our schedule.

The JV Baseball Team is off to a good start.  The team is 4-0.  Our Freshman Team is 0-2.  Both teams have had game after game canceled due to weather.  The kids are staying positive and working hard.  They can't wait to get back on a field and play.

Benedictine Alumnus Matt Vanni ‘08 is off to a great start in his third year at Lake Erie College.

Matt went 3-6 with a walk on offense and did a superb job at third.  The highlight of the game was when Vanni threw a man out at second base after making a diving stop of the ball. Matt has also added pitching to his baseball resume.  He pitched 5 2/3 innings vs Cedarville to record his first ever college baseball pitching victory.

Aside from playing for the Storm, Matt is majoring in Business Administration
